I'm so darn tired of not having a Chinese phone number while trying to buy stuffs from China

Sorry for posting this entirely in English, not really in the mood of translating things when it’s like 2AM in the night after 3 hours of dealing with JD and its absolute BS…

Here’s what happened, basically I was trying to build my own Steam Machine because it’s so expensive in Canada, it’s like (1500 CAD here with no controller, hilarious)

So I searched around a bit and found this laptop 玄派玄机星2024 with R7-8845HS/16G/1T/165hz for only 5999 CNY (that’s about 1200 CAD) with better specs and much much better performance plus a screen

Absolutely based, ain’t it, Ik a forwarding service from China and all I have to do is buying this laptop and ship it to the warehouse, so they can ship it to me in Ontario all the way from China, for like 20 CAD.

But here’s where the nightmare begins, I tried to register an account on the 玄派玄 website, eh only Chinese number is supported, no worries, I just contact the customer service by email and order this way.

NOPE, the customer service is entirely in QQ, so I downloaded qq on the playstore, trying to login, nope your phone number is not safe, please use another one, no worries, let me login via wechat, download wechat on the playstore, login with my number it all went smoothly.

What in the damn freaking dumbshit is this? so I gave up on that route, well turns out this thing is sold exclusively on JD but there’s markup for about 200 CNY, oh well, I’ll bite the bullet then, go on JD’s website, trying to search

Sorry for the ranty post, this whole journey took me 3 hours and led to absolutely nowhere, what is going on here???

what do you mean by steam machine?if you play a lot of 3A games,I don’t think this laptop is enough.

For transaction-related apps in China, a Chinese phone number and real-name verification are basically required. For you, the simplest solution would probably be to find a trusted friend in China to place the order and handle the forwarding for you.

Taobao works but this laptop is JD exclusive and JD is my biggest enemy (I never was able to get an account because they don’t send any SMS to me)

The 2026 Steam Machine aka the Gabecube, it’s a game console/PC hybrid, extremely close to this laptop (tho this laptop has better performance)

SteamOS can run on non-Steam hardware, but has various requirements (like ZEN4 CPU/ AMD GPU etc)

basically like trying to build a hackintosh

太惨了哥们，其实不只是手机号，你可能还需要一个大陆的家宽节点，否则就算你有手机号也容易触发封控，在下单/支付环节被拒绝，这种其实和我们去买美国亚马孙或者其他国家亚马逊的操作流程差不多，建议你找一家转运公司，收获地址写转运仓的地址，让转运仓帮我负责国际快递的部分，基本的下单环节，核心就是手机号+ip代理环境，但是其实和其他朋友说的一样，建议找个在中国朋友帮你买可能更好

Can totally empathize with you bc this is exactly what we will go through when buying things on Amazon or some sort of e-commerce platforms abroad lmao

And you may also need a domestic IP located in China to prevent the risk control system btw, which is the exact thing that hastortured foreign AI/shopping platform users in China for years^-^

楼上说的对，这不仅仅是手机号的问题，还有IP地址，收件地址的问题，只要其中一个有问题，你就被打上黄牛的标签，然后购买失败。这边还是建议你找个中国朋友，让他下单，然后转寄

有一些港卡（香港的手机卡）可以办一个内地辅助号码，但我不知道外国人能不能办港卡。

买东西而已，很多反向海淘代购的啊例如cssbuy pandabuy oopbuy之类的很多不需要你有中国手机号可以直接用美元付款而且现在淘宝也支持直接买了
