Dear giffgaff Complaints Team,

I am writing to request an immediate refund of the remaining cash balance (Airtime Credit) held on my deactivated account.

To clarify, I fully accept the termination of my SIM card in accordance with your roaming and location policy; I am not asking to reinstate the service. My dispute lies solely with the retention of my personal funds.

Please note that I am exclusively requesting the return of the real money I topped up myself. I am not claiming any promotional credit, bonuses, or expired goodybags. Now that giffgaff has withdrawn its mobile service, withholding my unspent, self-funded balance has no legal or contractual basis and represents an unfair commercial practice.

Kindly arrange for the outstanding top-up balance to be reversed back to my original payment card.

If you are unwilling to process this refund, please immediately register this as a Formal Complaint. In that event, I expect a Deadlock Letter specifying the exact clause in your Terms of Service that permits giffgaff to retain consumer top-ups without delivering the corresponding service.

With that Deadlock Letter, I will refer this dispute to the Communications Ombudsman for independent adjudication. In parallel, I will also file a transaction dispute / chargeback with my card issuer.

I trust this matter can be settled promptly and reasonably without the need for external escalation.
